The FOYF thanks you for your generous donations in support of the Ypsi Freighthouse.  With your support we were able to raise over $106,000 during the Patronicity campaign!  These funds have been allocated to the internal construction projects required to re-open the freighthouse once again.

The FOYF is hopeful that the City will award the construction bid following the September 15th council meeting, and construction will be able to begin shortly thereafter.  At this time the FOYF is not able to accept rental reservations until we are further along in the construction process.  We appreciate your patience as we thoroughly address all of the considerations of such a historic building.

Please continue to check the Freighthouse Facebook page for updates on the progress of this very involved process.  We are excited about the future of the freighthouse and look forward to being able to accept reservations for private rental and community events soon!

The mission of the historical Ypsilanti Freighthouse is to preserve its heritage through fostering inclusive community participation by providing an environmentally sound gathering place for recreation, celebration, arts, education and local activities to increase opportunity for personal and collective growth in the Depot Town community.

The Freighthouse, which was one of Depot Town’s first major structures built in 1878, is in need of your help. Over the past 10 years, the Friends of the Ypsilanti Freighthouse have been raising funds for the restoration and stabilization of the building and now the Freighthouse is currently engaged in a 6-week fundraising campaign (until 2/28/15) to raise donations for necessary updates to finally re-open its doors up to local residents. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has agreed to match all donations – dollar for dollar – through the crowdfunding platform Patronicity. So your contribution will instantly double!
